Question: When does soccer start?
Answer: Practices begin Wednesday May 26, 2010 (tentative)

Question: When will we know about teams for our children?
Answer: You will be contacted by the coach assigned for your child's team by Sunday May 19, 2010 (tentative)  , also keep watching this WEB site for updates. If you have not heard from your coach by then, please contact the Convenor for your age group.
Question: Can my child play in a younger age group?
Answer: Ontario Soccer Association Rules and Regulations ( - ), which NCSC is obligated to abide by, prohibit players from "playing down" into younger age groups. Failure of any association to follow the OSA rules will result in a disciplinary hearing and subsequent punishment to the association and/or its members. It is not within NCSC's authority to consider requests to play down for reasons such as such as player's size, shyness, skill level, grade-level at school, late-year birth dates or parental convenience.
Question: Can my child play in an older age group?
Answer: A child will be moved up, only if, in the opinion of the Coordinator and the Coach, the child is too strong for their age group, and there is room in the League above. Please do not request that your child be moved up because of transportation problems, parents’ schedules, or to play with friends.
Question: How are player selected for teams?
Answer: We attempt to have teams balanced by age and gender. Where possible requests to play on the same team are accommodated. In addition we try to form teams from the same geographic area to facilitate car pooling. Please recognise that it is not possible to satisfy everyone's wishes.
Question: On which nights do house league teams practice/play?
Answer: When the season's schedules are finalized, coaches will distribute them to the players. Last year the ages played on the following nights and from year to year we try to keep the age group on the same night. The game days shown below are preliminary and may change based on field availability which we will not have until late April. During the year please check the Schedules page for details.

Our format is for teams to play division games twice a week (except Micro-Mites) from the end of May through to the end of August. These games include competitive scrimmage time and skills practice in each session. This format maintains the fun level as well as building skills in players. Dedicated practice times are also provided at the beginning of season and periodically through the season.

Question: Where do the teams play?
Answer: House league teams play on fields in Centrepointe, Briargreen, Craig Henry, Trend Arlington, Pinecrest, Bells Corners, Lynwood and Crystal Beach. See our Maps section for directions to all our fields.
Question: Are there player uniforms?
Answer: All house league players are issued uniforms including jersey, shorts and socks which are the property of the player. The uniforms will be distributed by the coach at the team's first practice.
Question: What equipment do we need ?
Answer: Players are required to provide their own soccer shin guards, which must be worn at all games and practices. Players will not be allowed to play or practice without shin guards. Soccer cleats are not mandatory but recommended. Players are also asked to bring a ball for skills practice before every game. Player must provide their own water bottle. Bug spray, and a sweat-suit for after the game, may be necessary at the start of the season.
Question: Does my child need to buy their own soccer ball for practicing?
Answer: Yes.  Each child should come to all practices with a ball so he/she can fully participate in all drills and exercises.  In order to keep costs as low as possible, NCSC provides a limited number of balls to coaches at the beginning of the season. We do not provide a ball for every child who registers. Handling and storing the hundreds of soccer balls in NCSC's inventory has become an unmanageable task. The balls and other equipment need to be collected, handled and redistributed annually. In addition, NCSC has a very limited storage facility for this equipment, so winter storage is also an issue. More importantly, NCSC believes that soccer balls belong at the feet of the player, not stored away in equipment bags. Organized games contribute only a small amount towards a player's skill development. Real skills are learned "off the pitch", while playing pick-up games with friends and siblings in the back yard, at the park or in the basement. By owning their own practice ball, players will have the opportunity to develop their skills in these informal settings.
Question: Is their a year end tournament?
Answer: Each house league division has its own year end tournament. This usually takes place at the end of August or early September. Medals are awarded to every player.
Question: I can't afford the registration fees. Will NCSC waive them?
Answer: NCSC will not waive the registration fees. However, we will support your application to KidSport Ontario to have them pay the fees for you. (Ottawa Chapter under development)
Question: Where can I get more information?
Answer: For more information, please contact the Convenor for your age group or the NCSC Director, House League.
