How important is CONCACAF Nations League for Canada?
The CONCACAF Nations League is a football cup within the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). This Nations League presents an unalloyed opportunity for Team Canada to compete against the best in the CONCACAF region.
Canada makes a strong statement
Canada qualified through to the CONCACAF cup comfortably, beating four of the Caribbean Nations : US Virgin Islands, St.Kitts and Nevis, Dominica and French Guiana by a combined score of 18-1. Giving the opposition was relatively weak, John Herdman’s team scored successfully.
The competition will be carried out through September 2019 to March 2020, where Canada will be participating against US and Cuba. Team Canada has the opportunity to stay throughout all the matches and make it all the way to the premier sides in North America.
In this tournament , John Herdman and his team will have to step up as team Canada will be tested from the very first match with a new concept of 3 teams in each group.
Team Canada will start off up against Cuba in the CONCAF Nations League. Cuba has a history of success although they didn’t make it through for the Gold Cup 2017. Cuba went through the quarter finals of 2013 & 2015.
